Guidelines for abstracts
Abstract Submission Deadline: May 1st 2008
Submission policies:
Abstract submission shall be completed in 8 steps.
Please read carefully through the description of the 8 steps in order to ensure a valid submission.
Please check your abstract carefully before submission
Select the session to which you wish to submit your contribution
Step 1 of 8 - Create an abstract for submission
Include:
- The title
- A list of authors with their affiliations(s). Give the e-mail address, fax and telephone numbers, for the corresponding author.
- The body of your abstract prepared on your usual word processing programme. You may use any character style and any character size since a formatting will be done after submission. Formatting incompatibilities might appear between MacInstosh and this website. We would recommend the use of (alt+d) for "small delta symbol" and "alt+maj+D" for ?. If incompatibilities persist, please write "delta" instead of using "small delta symbol", and “Delta” instead of "?".
Step 2 of 8 - Select your session
Please select the session to which you wish to submit your contribution. You may add 2 alternative choices

- Soil, Freshwater and Marine Ecology

Step 3 of 8 - Young researcher
If you are a PhD student or if you completed your PhD less than 3 years ago, please specify it in the designated box.
Step 4 of 8 - Poster presentations
If you want to present your contribution as a poster, please specify it in the "comments" box (at the end of the submission process). If there is no such specification, convenors will decide on acceptance either as oral presentation or as poster presentation.
Step 5 of 8 - Title
* The title should be typed in uppercase and lowercase letters.
*
Do NOT use small caps for titles. Do NOT type in capital letters only.
* Do not use asterisks or scripts to denote footnotes or other references.
* The title of the abstract should not exceed 200 characters (including spaces).
* Enter the title as one line of continuous text. Do NOT include Line Breaks (Returns) or LaTex newline commands (\\).
Step 6 of 8 - Authors
*Enter the authors in the order you wish them to appear on the abstract using the format of the example below
* Please try to limit your author list to 8
Example: John T. SMITH (1,2), Tim G. ROBERTS (2) and Josette DUPONT (3)
* The proper way of using spaces and commas:
John<space>T. <space>SMITH<space>(1,2), <space>Tim<space>G. <space>ROBERTS…
*Author name style and order. Start with the full given/first name, capitalizing only the first letter. Follow with uppercase middle initials punctuated with periods and end with the last/family name in uppercase letters (ex. John T. SMITH)
* Presenting author (if already known) shall be in bold point (e.g. Tim G. ROBERTS)
If there is only one affiliation, do not use any numbering (e.g. John T. SMITH, Tim G. ROBERTS and Josette DUPONT)
Step 7 of 8 - Affiliations and Contact
Example: (1) Institute of Physics, Cambridge University, UK, (2) Lehrstuhl für Geomorphologie, Bayreuth, Germany, (Tim.Roberts@bayreuth.de/ Fax: +49-00000/Tel: +49-00000) (3) Laboratoire d'océanologie, Bordeaux, France.
* Add email address, phone number and fax number for the corresponding author only.
Step 8 of 8
* Do not include figures and tables within the abstract.
* Abstract length should not exceed 2500 characters
* Please use character type "symbol" for small delta symbol, ∆, alpha … if possible. Mac users might use (alt+d) for "small delta symbol", and "alt+maj+D" for ∆. If incompatibilities persist, please write "delta" instead of using "small delta symbol", and “Delta” instead of “∆ “.
* The easiest way to enter the body of the abstract is to complete the text in your word processing programme, then copy and paste it into the Body box.
